For the first time in history, the Georgian national team won the right to play in the continental championship
The players of the Georgian national team, during the celebration of Euro 2024, together with fans, recalled the territories of their state that were occupied by Russia.
So, on the streets of Tbilisi players of the Georgian national team and fans chanted “Abkhazia is Georgia” and “Samachablo is Georgia.”
Note that these territories are internationally recognized as part of Georgia, but since 2008 they have been under Russian occupation. Samachablo is a historical region of Georgia, of which South Ossetia is a part.

The Georgian national team qualified for the European Football Championship for the first time in history. In the qualifying playoffs for Euro 2024, Willy Sagnol's team first defeated Luxembourg (2:0), and then defeated Greece (0:0) in a penalty shootout.
At Euro 2024, the Georgian national team will compete in group F with Turkey, Portugal and the Czech Republic.
The matches of the final Euro 2024 tournament from June 14 to July 14, 2024 will be held in Germany.
