Sergei Chuprina gave his life for his Motherland.

Duringthe war Former Ukrainian handball player Sergei Chuprina died against the Russian invaders.

The Ukrainian Handball Federation reported the tragic news.

Since the end of July 2023, the 43-year-old Chuprin was considered missing. Only at the end of March 2024 did it become known for sure about his death.

“For 8 long months, family and friends hoped that Sergei Chuprina was alive. But, unfortunately, at the end of March 2024, disappointing news came: 26 July 2023, in the battles for Robotino, a 43-year-old Vinnitsa handball player died…”, the post says.

Chupryna was the vice-champion of the first Ukrainian handball league, the winner of the Universiade among national teams of higher educational institutions of Vinnitsa region and captain of the national team of his region.

After completing his playing career, Sergei made a significant contribution to the popularization of handball – he helped organize competitions at various levels.

Farewell to the fallen warrior took place on Monday, April 1 , in Vinnitsa.

It was previously reported that the champion of Ukraine and medalist of the European Youth Rowing Championship Dmitry Gubanov died in the war against Russia.
