“Benfica” with Trubin lost to “Marseille” in a penalty shootout and was eliminated from the Europa League (video)

“Eagles” suffered a minimal defeat in the return match, after which they also lost in a series of 11-meter kicks.

BenficaUkrainian goalkeeper Anatoly Trubin lost on the road toMarseille “in the second leg of the 1/4 finals of the Europa League. The match at the Velodrome stadium in Mersal ended with the score 1:0.

In the first match, Benfica beat Marseille at home with a score of 2 :1. In the return match, the Provencals scored in the 79th minute – Faris Mumbanya scored.

Thus, the score on aggregate became 2:2 and the game went into extra time, where the teams were unable to hit each other's goals. So the fate of a ticket to the semi-finals was determined in a penalty shootout, where the players of the French club were more precise – 4:2.

Trubin was in the starting lineup of the “eagles” and played the full match. The Ukrainian goalkeeper was unable to save any of the four shots in the penalty shootout.

In the semi-finals, Marseille will compete with Atalanta, which sensationally knocked Liverpool out of the tournament in the quarter finals.

The other ticket to the Europa League final will be played by Bayer Leverkusen and Roma, who beat West Ham and Milan in the quarter-finals, respectively.

The first legs of the Europa League semi-finals are scheduled for May 2, the return games on May 9. The final of the tournament will take place on May 22 in Dublin, Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.
