Gervonta Davis expressed a desire to fight Vasily in the ring.
WBA lightweight world champion Gervonta Davis challenged the newly crowned IBF title holder Vasiliy Lomachenko to a fight, who on May 12brightly knocked outAustralian George Kambosos.
After the Ukrainian’s victory over the Australian, the 29-year-old American posted on Twitter, declaring his desire to box with Lomachenko.
“He’s next after Frank… Give me first get to Frank,” Gervonta wrote, but then deleted his post.
On June 15, Gervonta will fight against Frank Martin. This will be Davis' first fight since last April, when he scored a knockout victory over fellow countryman Ryan Garcia.
Lomachenko reacted to Gervonta's challenge at a press conference after his victory over Kambosos.
“You know, in my boxing career I have never run away and have always been in fights. After I get some rest, we can talk about the future,” said Lomachenko.
Recall that Lomachenko knocked out Kambosos in the 11th round and won the vacant IBF lightweight world title.
For Lomachenko, this was his first fight since May 2023, when he lost by unanimous decision to American Devin Haney in the fight for the title of absolute world lightweight champion. Now the 36-year-old Ukrainian has 18 victories (12 by knockout) and 3 defeats in the professional ring.
Kambosos suffered the third defeat in his career. The 30-year-old Australian also has 21 wins (10 by knockout).
It was previously reported that Lomachenko commented on his spectacular victory over Kambosos and winning the championship title.
