The Ukrainian champion is completely focused on the upcoming fight.
World heavyweight champion according to WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF Alexander Usik commented on the clashhis team with representatives of WBC title holder Tyson Fury.
The incident occurred on May 13 in Saudi Arabia, when the Ukrainian boxer was giving an interview to the British television channel Sky Sports. Fury's team approached him and began to interfere with their loud screams. A brawl broke out, during which the father of the “Gypsy King” John Fury headbutted a member of Usik’s team, but he himself suffered from this, breaking his forehead to the point of bleeding.
According to Usik, he absolutely does not pay attention to this skirmish, since he is completely focused on the upcoming fight.
“I feel good. Crazy day, crazy week. It doesn’t matter to me. I’m only focused on the fight. This bad behavior of Fury’s team, including his father. This is only the problem of Tyson’s team,” Usik said in a comment to The Stomping Ground.
Fury Sr. has already made a statement, apologizing for your behavior. A video of Usik’s reaction to his team’s clash with the father of the “Gypsy King” also appeared.
It was previously reported that a member of Usik’s team, who was hit by Fury’s father, shared the details of the “bloody” skirmish. The director of the team of the Ukrainian champion also reacted to the incident.
The Usyk-Fury fight will take place on May 18 in Riyadh. The fight was initially scheduled for February 17, but due to an injury the Briton received during one of the sparrings, it had to be postponed.
The winner of the Usyk-Fury fight will become the first absolute champion world heavyweight division in the 21st century.
The last “absolute” in the heavyweight division was Lennox Lewis, who won this status in 1999 when he defeated Evander Holyfield. Then the WBA, WBC and IBF titles were at stake. The WBO belt was recognized as equal in 2007, so the winner of the fight between Usik and Fury will become the first “absolute” heavyweight champion in history with four major titles.
We would like to remind you that the winner of the fight between Usik and Fury will be deprived of one from championship belts.
