The quarterfinal match of the Grand Slam tournament with the participation of the Ukrainian will take place on July 10.
On Wednesday, July 10, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (No. 21 WTA) will play the 1/4 final match of Wimbledon 2024.
The 29-year-old native of Odessa will compete with the fourth racket of the world, Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan. The meeting will begin approximately at 15:30 Kyiv time.
In the 1/8 finals, Svitolina confidently beat Chinese Wang Xinyu (6:2, 6:1), and Rybakina beat the “neutral” Russian Anna Kalinskaya (6:3, 3:0) on her opponent’s refusal.
Previously, the rivals played each other four times, the score in head-to-head meetings was 2:2. Elina won in 2020 in the final of the tournament in Strasbourg and in 2021 in the bronze medal match at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Rybakina defeated the Ukrainian in 2021 in the 1/8 finals of the competition in Eastbourne and in the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros 2024.
Let us add that Rybakina was born in Moscow. Until June 2018, she represented Russia at tournaments, after which she changed her sports citizenship to Kazakhstan.
