Olga reacted emotionally to her triumph.

Ukrainian sabre fencer Olga Harlan gave her first comment after winning the bronze medal at the Olympic 2024 Games in Paris.

On the air, the 33-year-old Ukrainian couldn’t hold back her tears and shouted: “Ukraine, we love you, this is for you, my dear, this is for you,” Kharlan said after winning the bronze medal match.

This is Ukraine’s first medal at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. For Kharlan, this is the fifth Olympic award in her career.

The 2024 Olympics are the fifth in Kharlan’s career. She won four medals at the previous Olympic Games. Olga became the 2008 Olympic champion and the 2016 Olympic silver medalist in the team tournament, and also won bronze medals in the individual championship at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.

Kharlan started at the Games in Paris from the 1/16 finals, defeating the Japanese Shihomi Fukushima (15:9). In the 1/8 finals, the Ukrainian defeated the representative of Azerbaijan Anna Bashta, who competed under the Russian flag until 2019. In the quarterfinals, Olga beat Anna Marton from Hungary (15:7), and in the semifinals, she lost to the Frenchwoman Sarah Balzer (7:15), and in the match for the bronze medal, she defeated the South Korean Choi Sebin (15:14).

Recall that the Games in Paris will last until August 11. Ukraine is represented at the XXXIII Summer Olympics by 140 athletes who compete in 23 sports.
