Another Ukrainian boxer lost at the start of the 2024 Olympics

Ayder Abduraim failed to get past the representative of Bulgaria.

Ukrainian boxer Ayder Abduraimov has finished competing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Our compatriot in the weight category up to 57 kg started from the 1/8 final, where he lost by unanimous decision to Bulgarian representative Javier Ibanez, who was favored by the judges in all three rounds.

For 20-year-old Abduraimov, this was his debut at the Olympic Games. Ibanez is from Cuba, but competes for Bulgaria. He is the winner of the 2023 European Games.

Abduraimov is the second Ukrainian boxer to drop out of the 2024 Olympics. Earlier, at the start of the tournament in the over 92 kg weight class, Dmitry Lovchinsky lost by knockout.

Thus, only one boxer remained to represent Ukraine at the Games in Paris – Alexander Khizhnyak.

The day before, Khizhnyak knocked out a native of Ukraine and advanced to the quarterfinals, where his opponent will be Brazilian Wanderley Pereira. The quarterfinals are scheduled for August 2.

Ukraine is represented at the XXXIII Summer Olympics by 140 athletes competing in 23 sports. The Games in Paris will last until August 11.

So far, Ukraine has only one award in its collection at the 2024 Olympics – bronze, which was won in individual sabre by Olga Kharlan.
