Marta fought to the end, but still leaves the Olympic Games.

Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk failed to reach the semifinals of the singles Olympic Games-2024 in Paris.

In the quarterfinals The 22-year-old Ukrainian lost to Croatian Donna Vekic in a tough match – 4:6, 6:2, 6:7.

During the match, Kostyuk saved four match points and had her own match point in the tie-break of the decisive third set, but did not convert it.

This is Marta’s debut Olympics in her career. At the start of the competition, she defeated New Zealander Lulu Sun, in the second round beat Frenchwoman Clara Burel, and in the 1/8 finals won a hard-fought victory over world number eight Maria Sakkari from Greece.

Kostyuk is the only Ukrainian tennis player who reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 Olympic Games singles. Earlier, Elina Svitolina and Dayana Yastremska dropped out of the competition, and Angelina Kalinina withdrew before the start due to   illness.

In the semifinals, Vekic's opponent will be Slovakian Anna-Karolina Schmiedlova, who in the 1/4 finals knocked out the current Wimbledon champion, Czech Barbora Krejcikova, who had offended Ukrainian Elina Svitolina in the 1/8 finals.

Earlier it was reported that Ukrainians Lyudmyla and Nadezhda Kichenok reached the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament of the 2024 Olympics.
