Maguchikh and Gerashchenko reach high jump final at 2024 Olympics, Levchenko eliminated

The women's high jump final will be held on Sunday, August 4.

On Friday, August 2, the qualifying competition in women's high jump was held at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Ukraine was represented by three athletes at once – Yaroslava Maguchikh, Irina Gerashchenko and Yulia Levchenko. Maguchikh and Gerashchenko made it to the finals, while Levchenko was unable to do so.

Levchenko finished the 2024 Olympics already at the first height. The 26-year-old native of Bakhmut was unable to clear the bar at a height of 1.83 meters in three attempts.

In turn, Maguchikh and Gerashchenko successfully jumped to 1.95 meters and will compete in the finals.

The women's high jump final at the 2024 Olympics will be held on Sunday, August 4. The start is at 20:50 Kyiv time.

Recall that in early July of this year, Maguchikh broke the world record in the women's high jump. The 22-year-old track and field athlete from Dnepr was the first in history to clear a height of 2.10 meters at the Diamond League stage in Paris. Yaroslava surpassed the achievement of Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, who jumped 2.09 meters at the 1987 World Championships in Rome.
