Thanks to Maguchikh's “gold”: Ukraine breaks into the top 20 of the medal standings at the 2024 Olympics

Over the past day, the “blue-yellows” have climbed another 11 positions in the medal standings.

On August 4, Ukraine won its second “gold” at Olympic Games-2024 in Paris. Yaroslava Mahuchikh became the Olympic champion in high jump.

In addition to Mahuchikh, on the ninth competition day of the 2024 Olympics, Ukrainian athletes won two more medals: Iryna Gerashchenko took bronze in high jump, and Mikhail Kokhan won bronze in hammer throw.

Thanks to these successes, Ukraine continued to rise in the medal standings of the 2024 Olympics.

After eight days of competition, our team was in 28th place, but based on the results of the ninth, it made a leap by 11 positions and is now is in sole 17th place in the medal standings.

Currently, the “blue-yellows” have six medals at the 2024 Olympics: two gold, one silver and three bronze.

The leader of the medal standings was the US team, ahead of China. The top 3 is completed by France.

A total of 329 sets of medals in 32 sports will be contested at the 2024 Olympics. The Games in Paris will last until August 11.

Ukraine is represented at the XXXIII Summer Olympics by 140 athletes who compete in 23 sports.

Ukraine is represented by the smallest number of athletes in its history at the Olympic Games. Before this, the anti-record (155 athletes) was at the 2020 Games in Tokyo, which were held in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

At the 2020 Olympics, the Ukrainian team won 19 awards: one gold, six silver and 12 bronze. With this result, the “blue-yellows” took 44th place in the medal standings.
