Parviz Nasibov made it to the fight for the “gold”.

Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler Parviz Nasibov reached the finals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

In the semi-finals, the 25-year-old Ukrainian (weight category up to 67 kg) defeated Azerbaijani Hasrat Dzhafarov, who is the first seed, and also a silver and bronze medalist at the World Championships, and a two-time European champion.

The fight ended with a score of 3:3, but it was the representative of Ukraine who advanced to the finals due to the fact that he was the last to perform an active action.

Parviz will fight for the “gold” against Iranian Said Esmaili Leivesi. The final fight will take place on Thursday, August 8.

It should be noted that in the 1/8 finals, Nasibov defeated the fourth seeded Serbian Mate Nemes (3:2). In the 1/4 finals, Parviz defeated the fifth seeded Amantur Ismailov from Kyrgyzstan (7:6).

Nasibov is a silver medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and a two-time bronze medalist at the European Championships (2023, 2024).

We add that another Ukrainian Greco-Roman wrestler, Zhan Beleniuk, lost in the semi-finals of the 2024 Olympics and will fight for the bronze medal on August 8.

Also today, August 7, Oksana Livach will compete for the bronze medal in freestyle wrestling. The Ukrainian's rival in the medal fight will be Japanese Yui Susaki, who is the current Olympic champion. The start is at 22:20 Kyiv time.

Ukraine is represented at the XXXIII Summer Olympics by 140 athletes who compete in 23 sports. Ukrainian athletes have already won seven awards at the 2024 Olympics: two gold, two silver and three bronze.

As of now, Ukraine occupies 19th place in the medal standings. The Games in Paris will last until August 11.
