The 41-year-old footballer announced this in a video published on his social networks.

At club level, Pepe played as a central defender for Maritimo, Porto, Real Madrid and Besiktas.
During his career, Pepe won the Portuguese championship 4 times and the Spanish championship 3 times. As part of Real Madrid, he won the Champions League three times and triumphed in a number of other tournaments.
Together with the Portuguese national team, the defender won Euro 2016 and the 2018/19 Nations League. For the national team, Pepe played 141 matches and scored 8 goals between 2007 and 2024.
