 Ukraine wins second medal at 2024 Paralympics

Ukraine won its second medal at the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. Swimmer Hanna Gontar won bronze in the 50-meter freestyle in the S6 class.

This is Gontar's second medal at the Paralympics. At Tokyo 2020, she also won a bronze medal in the 50-meter freestyle.

This is also Ukraine's second award at the 2024 Paralympics. The first medal for our country was won by swimmer Anton Kol – “silver” in the 100-meter backstroke.

The Paralympic Games in Paris will last from August 28 to September 8. Ukraine will be represented by 140 athletes who will compete in 17 sports. This is a record number of sports in the Paralympic history of Ukraine.

We remind you that at the previous Summer Paralympic Games, which took place in 2021 in Tokyo, Ukrainian athletes won 98 awards: 24 gold, 47 silver and 27 bronze. With this result, Ukraine took sixth place in the medal count and became fifth in the number of awards.
