In the new tournament format, each team will play eight matches against different opponents.
On Thursday, August 29, the draw for the main stage of the Champions League 2024/25 season took place in Monaco.
36 clubs took part in it, found out their opponentsand the only representative of Ukraine is Shakhtar Donetsk. According to the new format of the tournament, the draw was made using an automated computer system.
Each team will play eight matches with different opponents in the main round of the Champions League (four at home and four away). Before the draw, all teams were divided into baskets according to their UEFA coefficients.
Shakhtar got into the second basket. All participants of the Champions League got 2 opponents from 4 different baskets. The fixtures will be published on Saturday, August 31.

The eight best teams from the main stage of the Champions League will reach the 1/8 finals. The clubs that take places from 9th to 24th will play paired play-off matches for a place in the 1/8 finals. The rest will finish their performance in European competitions.
Starting from the 1/8 finals, the Champions League playoffs will be held according to the same scheme as before – in the format of two-legged confrontations, the final will consist of one match.
