"The Bulls" managed to overcome a two-goal deficit and snatch a comeback victory.

RB Leipzig beat Bayer awayin the central match of the 2nd round of the German Bundesliga of the 2024/25 season. The meeting at the BayArena in Leverkusen ended with a score of 2:3.

The “Pharmacists” opened the scoring in the 39th minute through Jeremie Frimpong, after which Alejandro Grimaldo doubled Xabi Alonso's team's advantage in the 45th minute.

In stoppage time to the first half, the visitors got one goal back – Kevin Kampl scored in the 45+7th minute.

After the break, the “bulls” managed to score twice more and snatch a comeback victory. Lua Openda scored twice, hitting the goal of the Leverkusen club in the 57th and 80th minutes.

Thus, “RB Leipzig” interrupted “Bayer's” incredible unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga, which lasted 35 matches. Before this, the “pharmacists” last lost in the German championship on May 27 last year in the final round of the 2022/23 season against Bochum (0:3).

With three points after two matches played, Bayer currently ranks ninth in the Bundesliga standings, while RB Leipzig is the sole leader with 6 points.

In the next round, after the international break, Leverkusen will play away against Hoffenheim on September 14, and the “bulls” will host Union on the same day.
