Ukrainian high jumper tops podium at second consecutive Diamond League event

Ukrainian high jumper takes podium at second consecutive Diamond League stage

Oleg Doroshchuk shares bronze with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion.

Ukrainian high jumper Oleg Doroshchuk won the bronze medal at the Diamond League stage in Rome (Italy).

The 23-year-old Ukrainian shared third place with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, Italian Gianmarco Tabmeri. Both athletes cleared 2.27 meters on their second attempt, but failed to clear 2.30 meters.

The winner of the competition was South Korean Woo Sang-hyuk with a result of 2.30 meters. In the fight for gold, thanks to fewer attempts, he beat Romain Beckford from Jamaica, who took silver.

For Doroshchuk, this is the second medal in a row at the Diamond League stages. On August 25, he also won “bronze” at the competition in Polish Silesia.

Recall that at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, Doroshchuk came sixth in the final with a personal best, clearing the bar at a height of 2.31 meters.
