Viktor Kovalenko has left Italy's Atalanta.
Atalanta has announced the termination of its contract with Ukrainian midfielder Viktor Kovalenko.
As reported on the official website of the “Bergamaschi”, the parties have agreed to terminate their cooperation early. The 28-year-old midfielder's agreement was calculated until the summer of 2025.
Atalanta bought Kovalenko from Shakhtar Donetsk in the winter of 2021 for 700 thousand euros. The Ukrainian played only one match for the club from the city of Bergamo.
The Bergamaschi loaned Kovalenko to Spezia and Empoli. Last season, Victor played 17 matches for Empoli, scoring 2 goals and making one assist.
It should be noted that Atalanta will be one of Shakhtar's opponents in the main round of the 2024/25 Champions League, which will be played in a new format.
Atalanta is also the current winner of the Europa League, where in the final they defeated Bayer Leverkusen (3:0).
As reported, this summer Kovalenko's house was destroyed by a Russian missile when his mother was there.
