Ukraine wins 8 medals on day 4 of 2024 Paralympics and approaches top 10 in medal standings

 Ukraine won 8 medals on the 4th day of the 2024 Paralympics and approached the top 10 of the medal count

In terms of the number of medals won, the Ukrainian team shares third place with the United States and Brazil.

Ukraine won eight medals in the fourth competition day of the 2024 Paralympic Games.

On Sunday, September 1, Ukrainian para-athletes won two gold, one silver and five bronze medals in Paris.

“Gold” was won by Oksana Zubkovska (athletics, long jump, class T12) and Mikhail Serbin (swimming, 100 m, backstroke, class S11).

“Silver” was won by Roman Polyansky (rowing, single sculls, class PR1).

The bronze medalists were Evgeniy Bogodayko (swimming, 100 m, breaststroke, class SB6), Artem Kolinko (boccia, class BC4), Daniil Chufarov (swimming, 100 m, backstroke, class S11), Daniil Semenikhin (swimming, 100 m, breaststroke, class SB5) and Anna Gontar (swimming, 100 m, breaststroke, class SB5).

Based on the results of four days of competition, Ukrainian Paralympians at the 2024 Games have already won 27 medals: three gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze.

After the fourth day of the 2024 Paralympics, the Ukrainian team rose in the medal count from 20th to 11th place, coming very close to the top 10.

In terms of the number of medals won, the Ukrainian team shares third place with the United States and Brazil.

China continues to confidently lead the medal count of the 2024 Paralympics (33 gold, 27 silver and 11 bronze medals). Great Britain remained in second place (23+12+8). The US team rose to third place (8+11+8).

The Paralympic Games in Paris will last until September 8. Ukraine is represented by 140 athletes competing in 17 sports. This is a record number of sports in the Paralympic history of Ukraine.

Recall that at the previous Summer Paralympic Games, which took place in 2021 in Tokyo, Ukrainian athletes won 98 awards: 24 gold, 47 silver and 27 bronze. With this result, Ukraine took sixth place in the medal count and became fifth in the number of awards.
