The Ukrainian team is in fifth place in terms of the number of medals won.
Ukraine won ten medals on the sixth competition day of the 2024 Paralympic Games.
On Tuesday, September 3, Ukrainian para-athletes won four gold, three silver and three bronze medals in Paris.
“Gold” was won by Yuriy Shengur (swimming, 100 m backstroke, class S7), Yulia Shulyar (athletics, 400 m run, class T20), Alexander Yarovyi (athletics, shot put, class F20) and Natalia Kobzar (athletics, 400 m run, class T37).
“Silver” was won by Andrey Trusov (swimming, 100 m backstroke, class S7), Daniil Chufarov(swimming, 200 m, medley, class S11) and Igor Nimchenko (swimming, 100 m butterfly, class S10).
The bronze medal was won by Oksana Boturchuk (athletics, 400 m run, class T12), Maksim Koval (athletics, shot put, class F20) and Elena Fedota-Isaeva (wheelchair fencing, sabre, singles, category B).
Following six days of competition, Ukrainian Paralympians have already won 45 medals at the 2024 Games: 9 gold, 15 silver and 21 bronze.
After the sixth day of the 2024 Paralympics, the Ukrainian team rose from tenth to seventh place in the medal standings. In terms of the number of awards won, the “blue-yellows” continue to occupy the fifth position.
China remains the absolute leader in the medal standings of the 2024 Paralympics (52 gold, 39 silver and 22 bronze medals). Great Britain is in second place (30+17+12). The top 3 is rounded out by the US team (19+23+11).
The Paralympic Games in Paris will last until September 8. Ukraine is represented by 140 athletes competing in 17 sports. This is a record number of sports in the Paralympic history of Ukraine.
Recall that at the previous Summer Paralympic Games, which took place in 2021 in Tokyo, Ukrainian athletes won 98 awards: 24 gold, 47 silver and 27 bronze. With this result, Ukraine took sixth place in the medal count and became fifth in the number of awards.
