Serhiy Shishchenko replaces Valeriy Ivaschenko at the helm of "Obolon".
Kiev's Obolon" announced the appointment of Serhiy Shishchenko as the team's head coach.
The capital club signed a three-year contract with the Ukrainian specialist, according to the brewers' official website.
Shishchenko replaced Valeriy Ivaschenko at the helm of "Obolon", who was fired the day before.
Shishchenko's last job was Zhitomir's Poliesie, with whom he finished fifth in the UPL last season and qualified for the Conference League.
Ivaschenko began working as a coach for the Brewers in the summer of 2013. Since then, he has held 119 official matches as head coach, with the team winning 43, drawing 30 and losing 46. Under his leadership, the White-Greens advanced to the UPL for the first time in the club's modern history. Last season, Obolon took 14th place in the league table and retained their place in the elite division thanks to success in the transition matches.
In the new season of the Ukrainian championship, the “brewers” took only one point in five matches and are at the bottom of the league table.
Shishchenko's debut match at the helm of Obolon will be the home game of the 6th round of the UPL against Oleksandria, which will take place on Friday, September 13.
