Ukrainian midfielder of Genoa Ruslan Malinovskyi underwent surgery after a serious injury received the day before in the match 5th round of the Italian Serie A with “Venice”.
As reported on the official Instagram page of the “griffins”, the surgical intervention was successful. In the coming days, the 31-year-old Ukrainian will begin rehabilitation.
“This morning, player Ruslan Malinovskyi underwent surgery on his right ankle. The operation, performed by Professor Federico Santolini and his team, was successful. The player feels well and will begin rehabilitation at the club's base in the coming days,” the club said in a statement.
Earlier, Genoa reported that Malinovskyi had an injury to his right ankle – a dislocated ankle and a fracture of the fibula. Ruslan's recovery time will be announced later.
This season, Malinovskyi played five matches for Genoa in the Italian championship, without scoring.
The match between Venezia and Genoa ended with a score of 2:0 in favor of the hosts.
Currently, Malinovskyi's team is in 13th place in the Serie A standings with 5 points after five matches.
The Griffins will play their next match on Wednesday, September 25, against Sampdoria in the second round of the Italian Cup. On Saturday, September 28, Genoa will host Juventus in the Italian championship.
