Ukraine's Futsal Team Defeats Netherlands to Reach 2024 World Cup Quarterfinals

 Ukraine national futsal team beat the Netherlands and reached the quarterfinals of the 2024 World Cup

In the quarterfinals, the “blue-yellows” will play against the winner of the Spain – Venezuela match.

The Ukrainian national futsal team beat the national team of the Netherlands in the 1/8 finals match of the 2024 Futsal World Cup. The match in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, ended with a score of 1:3 in favor of the “blue-yellows”.

The Ukrainians opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the match – Mikhail Zvarych sent the ball into the goal after a beautiful combination.

The teams went to the break with a minimal advantage for the Ukrainian team. In the middle of the second half, the “Orange” recouped – Said Buzambu scored in the 29th minute.

However, Oleksandr Kosenko's team quickly regained the lead – Andriy Melnyk scored from an acute angle in the 31st minute.

At the end of the match, the Dutch sent a fifth field player onto the pitch in the hope of equalizing the score, but the Ukrainians managed to defend themselves and even increase their advantage – Melnyk scored in the last minute after an error by the opponent.

In the quarterfinals, the Ukrainian team will face the winner of the Spain vs. Venezuela match. The “blue-yellows” will find out their opponent on Wednesday, September 25.

The quarterfinal match with the Ukrainians will take place on Sunday, September 29. The start is at 18:00 Kyiv time.

The Ukrainian national team is participating in the Futsal World Cup for the sixth time in history. The best result of the “blue-yellows” is fourth place in the debut tournament for our team in 1996.

At the 2004 and 2008 World Cups, the Ukrainian team stopped in the 2nd group round (top 8), in 2012 it reached the quarter-finals, and in 2016 it was eliminated in the 1/8 finals.
