The Ukrainians will compete with Venezuela for a place in the semifinals of the world championship.
The Ukrainian national futsal team learned its opponent in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Futsal World Cup. It was the Venezuela team, which sensationally beat Spain with a score of 2:1 in the 1/8 final match.
The first half unexpectedly ended in favor of the Venezuelans – in the 13th minute, the goalkeeper of the South American team Jose Villalobos scored.
After the break, the Spaniards recouped – in the 24th minute, Raul Gomez scored.
The denouement of the confrontation came in the 39th minute – Victor Carreno brought Venezuela a sensational victory and advancement to the quarterfinals.
So it is Venezuela that will face the Ukrainian team in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Futsal World Cup. The day before, Oleksandr Kosenko's team beat the Netherlands (3:1) in the 1/8 finals.
The Ukraine vs. Venezuela match will take place on Sunday, September 29. It will start at 18:00 Kyiv time.
In the semi-finals, the winner of the Ukraine vs. Venezuela match will play against the winner of the match between Brazil and the strongest in the Iran vs. Morocco duel.
The Ukrainian national team is taking part in the Futsal World Cup for the sixth time in its history. The best result of the “blue-yellows” is fourth place in the debut tournament for our team in 1996.
At the 2004 and 2008 World Cups, the Ukrainian team stopped in the 2nd group round (top 8), in 2012 it reached the quarter-finals, and in 2016 it was eliminated in the 1/8 finals.
