"The Gunners" catch up with "Manchester City" at the top of the standings.

Arsenal beat Leicester at home in the match of the 6th round of the English Premier League (EPL) of the 2024/25 season. The high-scoring match at the Emirates Stadium in London ended with a score of 4:2.

In the 20th minute, Gabriel Martinelli put the hosts ahead. Before the break, the Gunners doubled their lead – Leandro Trossard scored.

However, in the second half, the Foxes managed to bounce back. James Justin scored twice, scoring in the 47th and 63rd minutes.

And yet, Mikel Arteta's men found the strength to snatch victory. In injury time, in the 90+4th minute, Trossard sent the ball into the visitors' goal with a ricochet off Wilfred Ndidi. And in the 90+9th minute, Kai Havertz put the finishing touches on this match.

The Gunners' defender Oleksandr Zinchenko was not included in the squad for the match against Leicester due to a calf muscle injury.

Review of the Arsenal – Leicester match

After this victory, Arsenal (14 points) moved into second place in the Premier League, level on points with leaders Manchester City. Leicester are in 16th place with three points.

In the next round of the Premier League, the Gunners will host Southampton on October 5. On the same day, the Foxes will play against Bonmouth, the home side of Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi.
