In the 2nd round of the most prestigious European Cup, Donetsk “Shakhtar” will meet with "Atalanta".
The matches of the second round of the main stage of the Champions League of the 2024/25 season will be played on October 1-2.
The only representative of Ukraine in the most prestigious European tournament, Donetsk “Shakhtar”, will play a nominally home match with Italian “Atalanta” on Wednesday, October 2, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
In the updated Champions League format, 36 clubs compete in a single league against eight different opponents (four home and four away matches).
At the end of the league stage, the eight teams with the most points will advance to the 1/8 finals. The clubs that finish in the 9th to 24th place in the overall standings will play in paired play-off matches to reach the 1/8 finals. The rest will finish their performance in European competitions.
Starting from the 1/8 finals, the Champions League playoffs will be held according to the same scheme as before – in the format of two-match confrontations (home and away). The tournament final will consist of one match.
