"The Gunners" defeated the French champion thanks to two goals scored in the first half.

"Arsenal" confidently beat the French PSGin the match of the second round of the main stage of the Champions League of the 2024/25 season. The match at the Emirates Stadium in London ended with a score of 2:0.

Both goals were scored by Mikel Arteta's men in the first half. In the 20th minute, Kai Havertz got ahead of Parisian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and opened the scoring in the game, finishing off a pass from Leandro Trossard.

In the 35th minute, the Gunners doubled their lead. Bukayo Saka crossed from a free kick, and Donnarumma made a mistake – the ball flew past all the players and ended up in the goal of the French club.

Luis Enrique's charges tried to recoup, but were unable to respond with at least one goal. Joao Neves had the best moment in the 67th minute, but after a corner kick, he hit the crossbar.

Arsenal's Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko was not included in the squad for the match against PSG, as he continues to recover from a calf muscle injury.

Review of the Arsenal vs. PSG match

With this victory, Arsenal (4 points) rose to eighth place in the overall standings of the main round of the Champions League. PSG dropped to 18th place, having 3 points.

It should be noted that in the first round of the most prestigious European tournament, Arsenal shared points with Italian Atalanta (0:0), and PSG defeated Spanish Girona (1:0).

In the third round of the Champions League, the Gunners will host Shakhtar Donetsk, and the Parisians will play against Dutch PSV on their home field. Both matches will take place on October 22.

The eight best teams of the main stage of the Champions League will reach the 1/8 finals. The clubs that take places from 9th to 24th in the overall standings will play paired play-off matches for reaching the 1/8 finals. The rest will finish their performance in European competitions.
