"Not a hero and not an asshole, but somewhere in the middle": Usyk dedicated a poem to his detention at the Krakow airport

Alexander poetically addressed his fans amid a loud scandal.

WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk dedicated a poem to his detention at the airport in the Polish Krakow.

The Ukrainian boxer posted a video poem to his followers on his Instagram page.

“Usually rhymes come at night, after training, when there is time to reflect on some events in my life – important or not so. This is a dedication – and gratitude – to all my friends and fans, ill-wishers and indifferent. Goodness and love to all,” Alexander wrote under the video.

Text of Usik's address – original language

“Many requests, many things said – right, wrong… In verse I will tell you what happened to me:

In verse, or perhaps in “verses,” I want to “tell you information”

Why they harassed me –

It just happens that way.

Galas has learned a lot about his behavior,

Having said a lot of things, that no one was with a bottle.

They began to look at anything,

Sometimes they condemned, and sometime they supported, sitting on the sofa.

Thanks to everyone for warmth and garbage

I’ll give it my due, I won’t shave my hair

I marvel at the world with thanks to God,

I encourage everyone in life to know their path.

I am not a hero and not an asshole, but somewhere in the middle

I want each of you to find a human being in yourself,” Usyk said.

Detention of Oleksandr Usyk at Krakow airport: what happened

Late in the evening of September 17, Usyk was detained at Krakow airport. The corresponding video was posted on social networks by the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports, Zhan Beleniuk.

The boxer's wife, Kateryna, commented on her husband's detention with the words “everything is fine, Oleksandr will explain everything later, nothing criminal.”

Usyk himself commented on the detention at Krakow airport, calling the situation “a misunderstanding that was quickly resolved.” He also recorded video message, where he said that he was already free. The boxer did not give any details about what happened.
