Berinchyk to defend champion title on undercard of Usyk & Fury fight: who will be his opponent

For Denis, this will be the first defense of the WBO lightweight belt.

It has become known when the Ukrainian WBO lightweight world champion Denis Berinchyk will have his next fight.

On his Instagram page, he announced that he will defend the WBO belt in a fight with the former IBF world champion in the second featherweight title with Briton Joseph Cordina.

The fight between Berinchyk and Cordina will take place December 21 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on the undercard of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury.

For Denis, this will be the first defense of the WBO lightweight title, which he won in May 2024, defeating Mexican Emanuel Navarrete by split decision.

It should be noted that Cordina was supposed to fight WBC lightweight title holder Shakur Stevenson on October 12, but it had to be canceled due to an injury to the American.

The 36-year-old Berinchyk has 19 wins (9 by knockout) in 19 fights in the professional ring.

32-year-old Cordina has 17 wins (9 by knockout) and only one defeat, which he suffered in his last fight. In May 2024, Joseph lost ahead of schedule to Irishman Anthony Cacace, losing his IBF super featherweight belt.
