Paul Pogba's doping ban reduced for World Cup winner

The Frenchman's ban was reduced from four years to 18 months.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne reduced the disqualification of Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba, who was previously suspended for four years for doping.

According to Sky Sports, the CAS upheld the appeal 31-year-old Frenchman and reduced the term of his “ban” to 18 months.

Thus, from January 2025, Pogba can return to training with Juventus, and from March – take to the field in official matches.

Pogba failed a doping test after the Serie A match against Udinese, which took place on August 20, 2023. Later it became known that a repeat doping test of the French midfielder also showed an elevated level of testosterone in the blood.

Pogba's contract with Juventus is calculated until 2026. After the doping suspension, the Italian club did not terminate the contract with the midfielder, but transferred him to a minimum salary.

In the summer of 2022, Pogba, as a free agent, returned to Juventus after six seasons at Manchester United, which paid the Turin club 105 million euros for the transfer of the Frenchman.

Previously, Paul defended the colors of the Bianconeri from 2012 to 2016. In total, the midfielder played 190 matches for the Old Lady, scoring 34 goals and 41 assists.

The footballer played for the French national team since 2013 and played 91 matches, scoring 11 goals. As part of Les Bleus, he became the silver medalist of Euro 2016, the winner of the 2018 World Cup, and also won the 2020/21 Nations League.
