 Unexpected choice: Rebrov called up two more players to the Ukrainian national team for the October Nations League matches

Ivan Kalyuzhny received his debut call-up to the national team.

Head coach of the Ukrainian national team Serhiy Rebrov made more changes to the list of players called up for the October matches of the 2024/25 Nations Leagueagainst Georgia and the Czech Republic.

As reported by the official website of the UAF, due to injuries to Dynamo midfielders Vladimir Brazhko and Alexander Pikhalyonok, Kyiv midfielder Vitaliy Buyalsky and his colleague from Alexandria Ivan Kalyuzhny were called up to the camp of the “blue-yellows” instead.

It should be noted that Buyalsky was transferred from the reserve list to the main one. But Kalyuzhny was not even among the “reservists” of the national team – he was called up to the national team for the first time.

Earlier it was reported that Andriy Yarmolenko and Oleksandr Svatok were also called up to the Ukrainian national team, replacing the injured Viktor Tsygankov and Vitaliy Mykolenko.

Midfielders:Mykola Shaparenko, Vitaliy Buyalsky, Vladislav Kabayev, Andriy Yarmolenko (all from Dynamo Kyiv), Taras Stepanenko, Georgiy Sudakov, Dmytro Kryskiv, Oleksandr Zubkov (all from Shakhtar Donetsk), Oleksiy Gutsulyak (Polesye Zhytomyr), Ivan Kalyuzhny (Oleksandria), Mykhailo Mudryk (Chelsea London, England).

Forwards: Artem Dovbyk (Roma, Rome, Italy), Roman Yaremchuk (Olympiakos Piraeus, Greece), Vladislav Vanat (Dynamo Kyiv).

In October, the Ukrainian national team will play two nominally home matches of the League of Nations. On October 11, in the 3rd round, the “blue-yellows” will host Georgia in Poznan, and on October 14, in the 4th round, they will play against the Czech Republic in Wroclaw.

Recall that in the 2024/25 League of Nations season, Rebrov's team is competing in Group B1 against the Czech Republic, Albania and Georgia.

In the opening matches of the tournament, the Ukrainians suffered defeats from Albania (1:2) and the Czech Republic (2:3). After two rounds, the Ukrainian national team occupies the last place in its group, without scoring a single point. Georgia is leading with 6 points, Albania and the Czech Republic have 3 points each.
