Andres Iniesta has decided to hang up his boots.
Former Barcelona and Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta has ended his football career.
The 40-year-old Spaniard announced this on his Instagram page.
Iniesta is a product of Barcelona, for which he played from 2001 to 2018. From 2018 to 2023, he played for the Japanese Vissel Kobe, and from 2023 to 2024, he defended the colors of the Emirates Club from the UAE.
With Barcelona, the midfielder won 32 trophies: he won the Champions League 4 times, triumphed in the Spanish Championship 9 times, became the winner of the Spanish Cup 6 times, the Spanish Super Cup 7 times, the UEFA Super Cup three times, and won the Club World Cup three times.
As part of Vissel Kobe, he became the champion of Japan, the winner of the Japanese Super Cup and the Emperor's Cup.
With the Spanish national team, he twice became the European champion (2008, 2012) and once the world champion (2010).
It was previously reported that he ended his football career at the age of 31 finished the 2018 World Cup champion and four-time Champions League winner French defender Raphael Varane.
