The “blue-yellows” won medals at the Futsal World Cup for the first time in history.

The Ukraine teamdefeated the national team of France in a match for the bronze medals of the 2024 Futsal World Cup. The match in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) ended with a score of 7:1.

Alexander Kosenko's team opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the match – Igor Chernyavsky sent the ball into the goal of the French after a pass from Igor Korsun.

At the start of the second half, the Ukrainians scored for the second time – Mikhail Zvarych scored a header in the 22nd minute from a pass from Rostislav Semenchenko from the right flank.

But already in the 23rd minute the French got one back – Ayoub Saadaoui finished off a quick counterattack by his team.

Ukraine responded to this very powerfully. Yevhen Zhuk scored twice, scoring in the 27th and 28th minutes.

After that, France removed their goalkeeper and released a fifth field player, for which they were punished. In the 30th minute, Daniil Abakshin twice hit the empty net from his half.

In the 33rd minute, the Ukrainians scored the seventh goal against the French – Abakshin scored a hat-trick, hitting the empty goal of Les Bleus. Then our team confidently held on to the winning result.

Thus, the Ukrainian team became a prize-winner of the Futsal World Championship for the first time in history. Before this, the best result of the “blue-yellows” was fourth place in the debut tournament for our team in 1996.

The Ukrainian national team participated in the Futsal World Cup for the sixth time in history. At the 2004 and 2008 World Cups, our team stopped in the 2nd group round (top 8), in 2012 it reached the quarter-finals, and in 2016 it was eliminated in the 1/8 finals.

We will add that Brazil and Argentina will compete in the 2024 Futsal World Cup final. This match will also take place on October 6, the starting whistle will sound at 18:00 Kyiv time.
