George Baldock died tragically at the age of 31.
Panathinaikos and Greece national team defender George Baldock died under unknown circumstances.
According to Gazzetta.gr, the 31-year-old footballer was found dead in the pool of the house he rented in Greece.
After the player did not answer his wife's calls, she began to find out what happened. The woman called the owner of the house, who found the footballer's body in the pool.
The circumstances of his death remain unclear. Police are investigating.
Baldock was born in the UK, but had Greek roots. In 2022, he made his debut for the Greek national team, for which he played 12 matches.
George played for Sheffield United for most of his career, playing 219 matches – 6 goals and 16 assists. He also played for MK Dons, Oxford United, Icelandic DBV Vestmannaeyjar, Tamworth and Northampton.
Last season, Baldock defended the colors of Sheffield United in the Premier League. In the summer of 2024, he moved to Panathinaikos as a free agent, for which he managed to play 4 matches. George played his last match in his life on October 6 against Olympiacos in the Greek championship.
