Head coach of the Ukrainian national team Serhiy Rebrov held a press conference before the match of the 4th round of the group stage of the League of Nations of the 2024/25 season against the Czech Republic team.
In particular, the coach of the “blue-yellows” spoke about the personnel situation in the team and the mood for the upcoming game.
“Unfortunately, Dmitry Riznyk was injured, he went to recover at his club. We called him later, we are grateful to him for coming, he worked well. I hope that he will quickly return to the team, to the national team. There are minor injuries, but I hope all the players will be ready for tomorrow.
How ready is Taras Stepanenko to play? Will Ivan Kalyuzhny have enough strength? There is still a day to recover. Taras is working in the general group, we will see tomorrow. Ivan still has time to recover. He has no injury, there was fatigue at the end of the game, but nothing serious.
What has changed for the Czech national team in a month? Nothing has changed. They played their last game with almost the same lineup. This team has had almost no lineup changes for many years. Yes, after the first game they lost, they changed a lot of players. They have a very good lineup, with several high-level players for each position. We are preparing very seriously. We must respect our opponents, but think about our own game.
Has the approach to the League of Nations changed? There have been no changes. I have never said that we view this tournament solely as preparation. Through it, we can get to the World Cup, so every game is important. But we must give a chance to young players who show themselves in the Ukrainian and European championships. We have called up enough footballers who show themselves in the championship. Any game of the Ukrainian national team is a holiday, an event for the whole country. Therefore, we are focused on winning tomorrow, we will do everything for this.
Will players like Andriy Yarmolenko and Oleksandr Zinchenko be missed tomorrow? They are very important players for the national team. Unfortunately, they are injured now. If you saw the game against Georgia, the players who came on as starters and substitutes showed the Ukrainian character, that we want and can win. Tomorrow, unfortunately, we will be without these players, but we have players who can replace them,” the official UAF website quotes Robrov as saying.
The Ukraine vs. Czech Republic match will take place on Monday, October 14, in Wroclaw, Poland, at the Tarczynski Arena Wroclaw stadium. The starting whistle will sound at 21:45 Kyiv time.

Despite this victory, Rebrov's team continues to occupy the last place in Group B1, having 3 points. Georgia is leading with 6 points, ahead of the Czech Republic (6) on additional indicators. Albania (3 points) is third.
According to the new format of the Nations League, a participant in the group tournament in Division B, where the Ukrainian national team competes, if it takes:
- first place – will move up to Division A;
- second place – will play playoff matches for access to Division A with the team that finishes third in the Division A group;
- third place – will play play-off matches for maintaining their place in Division B with the team that finishes second in the Division C group;
- fourth place – will be relegated to Division C.
