Arsenal lost away to Bournemouth in the match of the 8th round of the English Premier League (EPL) of the 2024/25 season. The match ended with a score of 2:0.
In the 30th minute of the match, Mikel Arteta's charges were left with one man down – William Saliba grabbed Evanilson during a throw-in from the right flank, for which he received a straight red card.
In the second half, Andoni Iraola's team took advantage of their numerical advantage and scored twice on the Gunners' goal. In the 70th minute, Ryan Christie opened the scoring.
And nine minutes later, Justin Kluivert converted a penalty, increasing the Cherries' handicap. The Londoners were unable to respond with even one goal.
Bournemouth's Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi played the entire match. But Arsenal's Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Zinchenko returned to the Gunners' squad after an injury, but never came off the bench.
This was Arsenal's first defeat this season in the Premier League. The Gunners are third in the Premier League with 17 points. Bournemouth (11 points) moved up to tenth place.
Arsenal will play their next match on Tuesday, October 22, at home against Shakhtar Donetsk in the 3rd round of the Champions League main round. The London club will then host Liverpool in the Premier League on October 27.
Bournemouth will face Aston Villa away in the next round of the English championship on October 26.
