"Liverpool" beat "Chelsea" in the central match of the 8th round of the English Premier League (EPL)season 2024/25. The match at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool ended with a score of 2:1.
The home team opened the scoring in the 29th minute of the match – Mohamed Salah converted a penalty awarded by the referee for a foul by Levi Colwell against Curtis Jones.
Immediately after the break, the Blues got even – Nicholas Jackson scored in the 48th minute. At first, the referee disallowed the goal due to offside, but after reviewing the VAR, he changed his decision.
The Merseysiders responded quickly. In the 51st minute, Curtis Jones took advantage of a pass from Salah and shot accurately past the Londoners' goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. It was this goal that brought victory to Arne Sloth's men.
It should be noted that the Ukrainian winger of Chelsea Mykhailo Mudryk was not included in his team's application for this match.
