Michel's team defeated Bratislava's Slovan with Daniil Ignatenko in the squad.

Girona beat Slovan from Bratislava on their home field in the match of the third round of the main stage of the Champions League of the 2024/25 season. The match at the Municipal de Montilivi stadium in Girona ended with a score of 2:0.

The Catalans opened the scoring at the end of the first half – Miguel Gutierrez scored in the 42nd minute.

In the second half of the match, Michel's charges strengthened their advantage – Juanpe scored in the 73rd minute.

In the 88th minute, the hosts could have brought the matter to a rout, but Christian Stuani missed a penalty.

The Ukrainian midfielder of the Spanish team Viktor Tsygankov was not included in the application for the match, as he continues to recover from an injury. But another Ukrainian, midfielder Daniil Ignatenko, came out in the starting lineup of the Slovak club and was replaced in the 78th minute, receiving a yellow card in the middle of the second half.

For “Girona” this is the first victory in the Champions League in its history. Tsygankov's team with three points after three rounds rose to 20th place in the overall standings of the main round of the Champions League. Slovan are in the last place, without a single point.

In the next round, Girona will play away to the Dutch PSV, and Slovan will host the Croatian Dinamo Zagreb. Both matches will take place on November 5.

The eight best teams from the main stage of the Champions League will reach the 1/8 finals. The clubs that take places from 9th to 24th in the overall standings will play paired play-off matches for a place in the 1/8 finals. The rest will finish their performance in European competitions.
