The former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine watched the Champions League match together with Andriy Shevchenko and Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the UK, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny attended the match of the third round of the main stage of the Champions League of the 2024/25 season between London's Arsenal and Donetsk's Shakhtar, which took place on October 22 in London.

He followed the tense match in the company of the President of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) Andriy Shevchenko and London Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk.

In addition, Zaluzhny received a personalized Shakhtar shirt from the general director of the Donetsk club, Sergey Palkin. The functionary published a corresponding photo on his Instagram page.

Let's add that in the past, the general repeatedly appeared in public with the emblem of Dynamo Kyiv, so the media wrote that he is a fan of the capital's club.

Recall that Shakhtar narrowly lost to Arsenal (0:1) and currently occupies 29th place in the overall standings of the main round of the Champions League, having one point to their credit. The Gunners with 7 points rose to fourth position.

In the next round of the Champions League, the Miners will face Swiss Young Boys on November 6, and the Londoners will play away against Milan Inter on the same day.

The eight best teams of the main stage of the Champions League will reach the 1/8 finals. The clubs that take places from 9th to 24th in the overall standings will play paired play-off matches for a place in the 1/8 finals. The rest will finish their performance in European competitions.
