An unexpected reason: Surkis explained why one of the leaders of Dynamo did not play against Shakhtar

Mykola Shaparenko did not take part in the Classic due to a household injury.

The president of Kyiv Dynamo Igor Surkis explained why the midfielder of the “white-blues” Mykola Shaparenko missed the match of the 11th round Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) with Shakhtar.

In a commentary to PROFUTBOL Digital, he said that the 26-year-old player cut his shoulder on a glass door right on the day of the match.

“We had the tragedy of Shaparenko. Four or five hours before the match, he cut his shoulder on a glass door. He opened the door – and the glass fell on him. That's why he didn't play today.

We could have been more creative in the middle of the field, but I liked the guys who came out. There was a spirit, they played the way they should play. We only arrived at the base at two o'clock yesterday, and all this time the guys were recovering. It's difficult, but everything is in such conditions,” Surkis said.

This season, Shaparenko played 16 matches for the Kiev team in all tournaments, scoring 3 goals and making 6 assists.

Recall that Dynamo snatched a draw against Shakhtar (1:1) in the majority. The capital club was saved from defeat by Oleksandr Karavayev's goal in the 87th minute of the match.

Dynamo after draw in Klassichesky with 26 points returned to first place in the UPL. The Kyivans overtook Oleksandriya, which they are now ahead of on additional indicators. Shakhtar (20 points) remained in fourth place.

The White-Blues will play their next match on Wednesday, October 30, in Poltava against Vorskla in the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup. Then, on Sunday, November 3, Oleksandr Shovkovskiy's charges will host Ingulets in the UPL.
