Messi's goal didn't save: Inter Miami sensationally eliminated in the first round of the MLS playoffs (video)

David Beckham's club has stopped fighting for the trophy.

Inter Miami, for which Ukrainian defender Serhiy Kryvtsov and star Argentine striker Lionel Messi play, sensationally eliminated in the first round MLS playoffs.

Gerardo Martino's men lost to Atlanta United in a two-game winning streak. The teams exchanged home wins with a score of 2:1 in the first matches, and in the decisive third game, the Miami team suffered a 2:3 defeat at home.

The match was very tense. Inter Miami took the lead in the 17th minute thanks to a goal by Paraguayan Matias Rojas. But the visitors responded very quickly – Senegalese Jamal Thiare scored twice, scoring in the 19th and 21st minutes.

In the middle of the second half, the hosts equalized the score – in the 65th minute, Messi made an accurate strike.

However, this did not help David Beckham's club to win. In the 76th minute, Polish midfielder Bartosz Slish scored the decisive goal and brought Atlanta United to the quarterfinals of the MLS playoffs.

It should be noted that one of the heroes of the match was the 40-year-old American goalkeeper of the guests Brad Guzan, who made seven saves in the game.

By the way, Krivtsov was not included in the Inter Miami application for this match due to a muscle injury.

Review of the match “Inter” Miami – “Atlanta United”

Thus, Inter Miami, which became the best team in the MLS regular championship with a historical record for the number of points scored, stopped fighting for the trophy at the start of the playoffs.

Atlanta United, which finished ninth in the MLS regular championship and knocked out Montreal in the play-in, will face Orlando City in the quarterfinals of the playoffs. The first match between these clubs will take place on November 23.
