The Portuguese advanced to the playoffs early from first place.
The Portugal national team defeated the Poland team in a home match of the 5th round of the group stage of the League of Nations season 2024/25. The match at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto ended with a score of 5:1.
All goals in this match were scored in the second half. In the 59th minute, Rafael Leão opened the scoring, finishing off a pass from Nuno Mendes. In the 72nd minute, the hosts strengthened their advantage – Cristiano Ronaldo converted a penalty.
In the 80th minute, Roberto Martinez's charges scored their third goal – Bruno Fernandes scored. And three minutes later, Pedro Neto scored against the Poles after a pass from Ronaldo.
In the 87th minute, Cristiano scored a double, scoring a goal with a spectacular scissor kick. Poland responded with only a consolation goal scored by Dominik Marczuk in the 88th minute.

In another match of the 5th round of this quartet, Scotland beat Croatia 1:0 at home.
Portugal (13 points) took first place in Group A1 ahead of schedule and advanced to the 1/4 finals of the Nations League. Croatia is in second place (7 points), while Poland and Scotland are in third and fourth positions, respectively, with 4 points each.
The final round matches in this group will be held on November 18: Portugal will play Croatia away, and Poland will host Scotland.
