Berinchyk gets another opponent to defend his title

The Ukrainian champion will enter the ring against the undefeated American.

WBO lightweight world champion Denis Berinchyk learned the name of his new opponent in the fight in which he will make the first defense of his title.

It will be American Keyshawn Davis. The boxer from the USA reported this in a comment to boxingnews24.com.

“I'm not going to go into details yet, but I know for sure that Denis Berinchyk will be my next opponent. He is invincible, he is a pressure fighter. He is from Ukraine, he is friends with Lomachenko and Usyk. He is a great fighter.

It's crazy. Last year we were supposed to fight him, but now that he's world champion, everything worked out for the better. “It will be a great fight,” the American said.

It is not yet known when exactly the fight between Berinchyk and Davis will take place. Earlier, Denis said that he would defend the WBO belt in a fight with former IBF super featherweight champion Joseph Cordina of Great Britain.

The fight between Berinchyk and Cordina was planned to take place on December 21 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on the undercard of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, but in the end this fight was never organized, and another opponent was found for the Ukrainian.

The 36-year-old Berinchyk has 19 wins (9 by knockout) in 19 fights in the professional ring.

For Denis, this will be the first defense of the WBO lightweight title, which he won in May 2024, defeating Mexican Emanuel Navarrete by split decision.

25-year-old Keyshawn has 12 wins (8 by knockout) and no losses. He is a silver medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and holds the WBO Intercontinental lightweight belt.
