Rebrov reacted to the draw for the playoff for a place in the elite of the League of Nations for the Ukrainian national team

“Blue-yellow” had to face Belgium.

Head coach of the Ukrainian national team Serhiy Rebrov commented on the results of the playoff draw for the 2024/25 Nations League.

The “blue-yellows”' opponent in the playoff matches for the right to play in the elite division was the Belgian team.

The matches will take place on March 20 and 23, 2025. The first meeting will be nominally a home one for the Ukrainians.

“The draw is always a challenge, especially when it comes to teams of such a level as the Belgian national team. We know this team well, because we already met them at Euro 2024, we have an idea of their playing style and strengths.

Of course, this will be a difficult confrontation. There are no weak opponents in the Nations League playoffs for the right to enter Division A. Serbia, Belgium, Hungary and Scotland are teams in the elite group. Therefore, we perceive each match with such opponents as an opportunity to test ourselves and take a step forward,” Rebrov said in a comment for the UAF press service.

The winner of the two-match confrontation between the national teams of Ukraine and Belgium will receive a place in League A, and the losing team will play the next tournament in League B.

Recall that the Ukrainian national team took second place in its quartet with 8 points. Division B and entered the playoffs for the right to move up a class. The Czech Republic (11 points) won this group, immediately rising to the elite division of the League of Nations. Georgia (7 points) came in third and will play Armenia in the playoffs for maintaining their place in Division B. Albania (7 points) took the last position and was relegated to Division C.
