Football fan brings his grandfather's skull to every match: why does he do it

An Argentine dug up his grandfather's skull so that he could witness the success of his favorite team.

A fan of the Argentine club Racing showed up at the final match of the Sudamericana Cup against Brazilian Cruzeiro with his grandfather's skull.

This was reported by the Daily Mail.

The fan explained that he always brings his “grandfather” to Rossing matches, because he was an ardent fan of the Argentine club.

“This is my grandfather, Valentin Aguilera, a Rossing fan until death. Racing is my love, and he is my love too, my grandfather,” he said, explaining why he always comes to matches with a skull.

The 2024 Copa Sudamericana, the South American version of the Europa League, ended on Saturday, with Argentine club Racing Club de Avellaneda and Brazilian club Cruzeiro meeting in the final.

Back in 2019, media outlets including Sports Illustrated and CNN reported on Gabriel Aranda, who allegedly dug up the skull of his grandfather Valentin in honor of Rossing's victory in the 2018-2019 championship.

This time, the remains of the grandfather witnessed another historic event: Racing won its first Copa Sudamericana, beating Cruzeiro with a score of 3:1.

Recall that on November 28, Dynamo Kyiv will meet Viktoria Plzen in the fifth round of the main stage of the 2024/25 Europa League season.
