Donetsk Shakhtar" lost to Dutch PSV in the match of the fifth round of the main stage of the Champions Leagueseason 2024/25. An incredibly dramatic match at the Philips Stadium in Eindhoven ended with a score of 3:2.

Already in the 8th minute of the match, the Miners opened the scoring – Efim Konoplya played a one-two with Alexander Zubkov during a counterattack, after which he crossed from the right flank, and Daniil Sikan, in one touch while falling, sent the ball into the far corner.

In the 37th minute, the Donetsk team doubled their advantage. Konoplya on the right flank of the attack took the ball from Matteo Dams and passed it into the penalty area to Zubkov, who shot low into the far corner.

In the second half, the current Dutch champion continued to attack. In the 69th minute, Shakhtar was left with one man down – the Orange-and-Blacks' defender Pedro Henrique received a straight red card for a rough foul on Johan Bakayoko in front of his own penalty area.

Until the 87th minute, the Miners managed to hold off the opponent's pressure, but at the very end of the match, Marino Pusic's charges conceded three times. Malik Tilman scored twice, scoring in the 87th and 90th minutes. And in the 90+5th minute, Ricardo Pepi snatched victory for PSV.

After five rounds, the Miners occupy 26th place in the overall standings of the main round of the Champions League, having 4 points. PSV with 8 points rose to 18th position.

In the next round of the most prestigious European tournament, Shakhtar will meet with Bayern, and PSV will fight with Brest. Both matches will take place on December 10.

Recall that in the updated Champions League format, 36 clubs will play in a single league, where they will play against eight different opponents (four matches at home and four away).
