The Miners narrowed the gap with Dynamo and Oleksandria up to 4 points.
Shakhtar beat Vorskla in the opening match of the 16th round of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) of the 2024/25 season. The match at the Arena Lviv ended with a score of 3:1.
The Donetsk club secured a comfortable handicap in the first half, having scored three times against Poltava. Neverton opened the scoring in the 14th minute. Then, in the 22nd and 36th minutes, Georgy Sudakov and Lassina Traore scored, respectively.
In the second half, Vorskla managed to score one goal – Ivan Nesterenko scored in the 76th minute. However, this did not prevent the miners from confidently bringing the matter to victory.

After this victory, “Shakhtar” (33 points) continues to occupy third place in the UPL, but has reduced the gap from the championship leaders “Dynamo” and “Oleksandria” to 4 points. “Vorskla” (16 points) remained in 11th place.
In the next round of the UPL, which will be the last before the winter break, the Donetsk team will play away against “Polesye” on December 15, and the Poltava team will host “Left Bank” on December 13.
Before that, on Tuesday, December 10, “Shakhtar” will play a nominally home match of the 6th round of the main round of the Champions League against Munich “Bayern” in Gelsenkirchen.
