The Premier League match between Everton and Liverpool was urgently postponed: what was the reason

The Merseyside derby has been postponed indefinitely.

The opening match of the 15th round of the English Premier League (EPL) of the 2024/25 season between Everton and Liverpool has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.

This was reported on the official website of the “toffees”.

The Merseyside derby was supposed to take place on Saturday, December 7. The match was scheduled to start at 14:30 Kyiv time. However, due to the storm “Darragh”, which is accompanied by strong winds and showers, the game was postponed indefinitely. A new date for the match will be announced later.

It is noted that the decision to postpone the match was made by local authorities. Due to the storm, the Championship match Cardiff City – Watford and the League 2 match Newport – Carlisle United have also been cancelled.

Currently, Liverpool leads the Premier League, having 35 points after 14 matches. Everton, for which Ukrainian defender Vitaliy Mykolenko plays, is in 15th place with 14 points.
