Sergey Bogachuk has changed his opponent for the fight due to illness of Uzbek Israil Madrimov.
Former WBC interim light middleweight champion Sergey Bogachuk has got a new opponent in the undercard of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury, which will take place on December 21 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
The Ukrainian was supposed to enter the ring against former WBA world champion in the first middleweight division, Uzbek Israil Madrimov, but he withdrew from the fight due to acute bronchitis.
As reported by the organizer of the boxing show, the head of the General Authority of Entertainment of Saudi Arabia, Turki Al ash-Sheikh, Bogachuk's new opponent will be 29-year-old Briton Ishmael Davis (13-1, 6 KOs).
In his last fight in August 2024, Bogachuk suffered a controversial defeat from American Virgil Ortiz and lost the WBC interim light middleweight champion belt. The Ukrainian knocked his opponent down twice, but ultimately lost by split decision.
The Ukrainian won the WBC interim champion title at the end of March this year, defeating American Brian Mendoza. Bogachuk was supposed to box with American Sebastian Fundora for the full vacant WBC light middleweight belt. However, the Ukrainian was deprived of the championship fight — Fundora replaced the injured Keith Thurman in a fight against Timofey Tszyu, where the WBO and WBC light middleweight titles were at stake.
The 29-year-old native of Vinnytsia has 24 wins (23 by knockout) and two losses in the professional ring. Serhiy lost for the first time in March 2021 to American Brandon Adams.
It should be noted that two more Ukrainians will fight on the undercard of the Usyk-Fury rematch. Daniel Lapin will face Frenchman Dylan Colin in a fight for the IBF Intercontinental and WBA Continental light heavyweight belts, and Ukrainian WBC International heavyweight champion Andriy Novitsky will meet Mexican Edgar Ramirez in the ring.
