Former third racket of the world, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina came to the Ukrainian Armed Forces military, who are defending their homeland from Russian invaders.
The 30-year-old native of Odessa visited 13th brigade of the NGU “Charter”, which has been financially supported for quite a long time.

“Kharkiv has a special place in my heart. The city that gave me a feeling of real home when I started my professional career here at the age of 12. The city that continues to give warmth and protection during the great war. If you ask me where I find motivation to fight in sports arenas? This is my country, my people, my Kharkiv and our heroes,” Elina wrote under her post on the social network.
Let's add that in September, Svitolina underwent surgery on her right leg. Due to the injury, she ended the 2024 tennis season early.
This year, Svitolina played in the final of the WTA 250 tournament in Auckland, reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon and the 1/8 finals of the Australian Open, US Open and Roland Garros. At the 2024 Olympics in Paris, she stopped in the 1/8 finals. Elina is currently ranked 23rd in the WTA rankings.
